Camp Life
Campers will work together to create a Shadow Puppet Play based on a piece of their favorite literature! In groups, the campers will choose a story and create the puppets, script and sound track (background music or sound effects) needed to bring the story to life. Campers will engage in the “magic” of shadow puppets and how to bring a story to life through puppetry!

Ballet and Movement 101
This workshop is perfect for all ages, and for anyone wanting to learn the foundations of ballet! Through this workshop you will learn basic moves and combinations so you can nail that dance call, or build your skills so you can sign up for that dance class you always wanted to take. This class is also ideal for campers who are aiming to increase/maintain muscle tone and range of motion!
Campers will work in teams to create a story theatre piece from a piece of their favorite literature. Each team of campers will be responsible for choosing a story, adapting a script, choosing actors, creating costumes and set, and choosing an appropriate sound track (background music or sound effect) to create their story theatre. Each group will then have the opportunity to perform these pieces in an informal setting for the rest of their fellow campers!

Story Theatre & Literature
Are you the kind of camper that can't stop singing in the shower, or are always singing on the car ride home? Come and sing in front of your friends in this super fun workshop! Receive some fun hints and tips for becoming the best singer you can be! Broadway, pop, jazz, rock, classical or whatever else you can do your best at! Also, learn how to sing healthily and learn some beginner and advanced warm-ups for all ages!
Campers will work in groups to create a song! The song can be original, or a modifcation of a song that already exists. Campers will also come up with movement, or a short dance to accompan their song. Then, songs will be shared with their color teams at Morning Meeting! Counselors will help campers create a creative PowerPoint, iMovie, etc. to share their lyrics. Campers can get creative and include images for each song! Let's get up and groove!

Have you ever wondered what happens backstage while you’re on stage? Campers will get an introduction to the world behind the curtain, and learn about the science and art of lights, sound, and stage management. Campers will be learn the basics of a sound and light board, get a first hand look at cool designs and technology as we explore the wonderful theater where all the magic happens! Heads up!: For our campers with sensory needs, this might not be the best workshop for you. Please let us know how we can accomodate your needs to help you participate!

The camp curriculum and activities at The Growing Place are run through the Silver Center for the Arts at Plymouth State University. This facility is handicap accessible, and has rooms to accommodate for dance, acting, and music activities. Also, the beautiful campus at PSU is the perfect setting to enjoy camper puppet shows, workshops, and fun in the sun
